Catholic Dogmatics Press, LLC. is a new traditional Catholic publishing house located in the state of Mississippi in the United States.
The object of our mission is to increase and perfect theological knowledge through the publication and dissemination of advanced and academic theological works covering the broad spectrum of Sacred Theology and its accompanying fields of study, with a strong emphasis on the philosophical foundations of theology (philosophy), the rational demonstration of the Catholic religion (apologetics or fundamental theology), the systematic exposition and synthesis of the truths of revelation (dogmatics or dogmatic theology), and the refutation of the Protestant heresy (polemical or controversial theology).
We will draw on the most definitive and reliable works, through a carefully researched catalogue of Catholic writings, selected in accord with the principles of canon law and moral theology on the rules and duties of publishers. Our printed editions will be hardcovers with archival quality paper, entirely re-typeset (no facsimiles or scanned text) and printed exclusively in the United States with full fidelity to the original text and updated bibliographical references, where required.
We have planned a number of unique publishing projects, including historical apologetics works, translations from various languages, acquisition of new books, and special series of re-publications of rare and valuable books which have not been in print for hundreds of years.
Allocation of funds
We are seeking $30,000 to help cover the startup costs for our company. Relevant expenses include:
- Print runs. We will not be relying on “print on demand” services but will be printing, storing, and shipping our own inventory. This will allow for higher print quality and more effective quality control. We also have several multiple volume sets planned which would require sizeable funding.
- Permissions and rights. Where applicable, we will be purchasing the requisite permissions and copyrights. This will enable us to reprint more recent works which would otherwise be unavailable.
- Acquisitions and translation projects. Certain projects may require advancements or special fees for commissioned work.
- Obtaining of published materials. While we currently have access to a large personal library of Catholic books and reference materials, future projects will require additional books and published materials for re-publication, sources for updated references, or further bibliographical research.
- Miscellaneous expenses. Computer hardware and software subscriptions, storage units and facilities, shipping supplies, office supplies, etc.
- Advertising
What to expect
With sufficient funding, we expect to be effectively operating within the next three months. We currently have several volumes selected for republication and many more in line for future work, the titles of which will be revealed as publishing time approaches.
